How To Boost Your Website Traffic Fast

Generating online traffic (visitors) and in turn exposure for the products you've chosen to promote is a challenge. However, this guide will enable you to begin to generate targeted visitors and potential customers immediately.

Use Forums and Message Boards

An outstanding way to advertise your own website and your top affiliate/referral links is by participating in online message boards and forums, responding to posts and writing your own posts.

Most boards don't allow blatant advertising. However, most will allow you to include a few lines to promote whatever you wish - which can generate a great deal of exposure and click-throughs for you.

There are two main keys to message board promotion:

Key 1: Participate only in message boards that are related to whatever you wish to promote.

Tip: Ask people on the message board or forum to recommend other popular boards or forums. The question could even be your first post.

Key 2: Participate only in popular boards (in terms of visits and traffic). The more popular the board, obviously the more exposure your posts will receive. For the most part, the popularity of a board is common sense. If posts are up to date and numerous, chances are you've found a popular board. You can further determine board popularity (or the popularity of any site for that matter) by searching it through Alexacom.

The more time you spend participating in the forums, the more exposure you'll receive.Certain topics and posts will generate more exposure than others. After a while you'll get a feel for what topics attract attention.

Your signature file can consist of just about anything you wish, as long as you keep it fairly brief.Study the 'sig files' of other message board posters to get a feel for how you can promote your website and affiliate links.Remember your signature file is really a mini advertisement so make it as powerful and irresistible as you can to generate those all-important click-throughs.

Use An Email Signature File

In the same way that you can use a signature file to promote your favourite website and affiliate products through message boards and forums, you can use similar or the same sig files in your daily outgoing messages.

Tip: Use your email provider to create your signature file.

Submit Your Articles To Ezines

Write and submit short (350-500 words) applicable articles to ezine publishers (with ezines that are related to the product you're promoting) with a 6-10 line 'resource box' (including your website URL or referral link) attached to the bottom of the article.

This is a win-win situation as the ezine editor receives informative content to send to their subscribers and you receive exposure in exchange. One article can go a long way using this technique.

Tip: There are a variety of other resources and directories you can submit to.Do a Google search on the phrase 'submit your article' for a list of options.Remember, if just a few website owners post your article (along with your resource box), it can lead to years of free traffic and click-throughs.

Important note: When offering 'reprint rights' to your articles, specify that your article must be reprinted exactly as it is.

Use Co-Registration (Pay Per Subscriber) Services

You'll need your own online newsletter - ezine - for this strategy.

Utilising co- registration services is truly one of the ultimate weapons in online advertising.Capturing the contact information of your prospective customers is your initial primary objective. The money is the list - that is, your opt-in list of ezine subscribers.

Co-registration, also known as pay-per-lead or pay-per-subscriber services offer a guaranteed way to build your opt-in list for a fee.

Using these services will not only enable you to build your opt-in list for future promotions, you can also send each new sign-up your autoresponder series (training/ follow-up) course through which you tastefully promote affiliate offers, your own offer(s), your affiliate programme, or any combination of these options.

With co-registration services, your advertising dollars work exponentially on your behalf. You're building your list while potentially advertising affiliate products, your own product, your affiliate programme, etc.

You can start slowly by purchasing a small number of subscribers. As you cultivate your list by regularly sending your subscribers free articles and information to their benefit, your list will become profitable.

As well as incorporating plugs (ads) within your follow-up email series, you can place 'top sponsor' style ads in your regular ezine issues.Once or twice a month, you can send out special solo offers (where the ad is sent alone without an article).

Tip: To learn how to run your own profitable online newsletter, subscribe to six or more online newsletters related to your area of business then study how they present their material and run ads and apply what you learn to your ezine.

Leaflet Distribution As A Force For Good

The recent case of twelve men being arrested for distributing leaflets that contained inflammatory and offensive material was not the first time that leaflet distribution has hit the headlines for controversial reasons.Leaflet distribution has a long history of coming under scrutiny because of the way it can communicate a message quickly and effectively to a large group of people.

However these run-ins with the establishment have not always been for reasons like the recent case.More often than not leaflet distribution has been at the forefront of important crusades and has helped to break down barriers, bring people together and, in many cases, has led to laws being changed or attitudes being revised.

These changes have always fallen into two groups, artistic and social.Leaflet distribution has help artists and designers question issues of taste and decency and has helped politicians and reformers raise awareness of important issues like poverty and homelessness.

The Civil Rights movement in the United States benefitted greatly from leaflet distribution. The very fact that the medium is so democratic and open to all means that it can be used to give voice to opinions that otherwise wouldn't have one.It can spread a message even if that message is not necessarily what the establishment or authorities want to hear.

It can, of course, be abused, as in the case of the men who used it to propagate offensive material, but in the case of the civil rights movement it was an ideal way to get the message of equality across.

People like Martin Luther King Jnr.were not granted the same access to mainstream media like other political groups at the time.Television and many newspapers were governed by people who wanted to maintain the status quo even if that was at the expense of a large part of the community.

Segregation and race were volatile subjects in 1960's America and few people in positions of power were willing to put their necks on the line.Leaflet distribution became an important weapon in the civil rights movement as a result.

Leaflets that were handed out during the time quoted from the American constitution and exposed the hypocrisy that segregation represented.Without leaflet distribution the message wouldn't have travelled as far and as fast as it did.It was also used for the same purpose in Ireland, Spain and South Africa.

Another political movement that worked towards social change and used leaflet distribution as a means to achieve its goals was the Suffragette movement. The Suffragettes were led by Emmeline Pankhurst and their main aim was to win the right to vote for women.Among their tactics were the lobbying of politicians, marching and demonstrations and leaflet distribution.

Pankhurst was a well educated woman and saw no reason why the fact she was a woman should exclude her from areas of society, commerce and politics. She campaigned vigorously and joined several groups that worked towards women's suffrage including the Independent Labour Party.

It was while she was involved with them that she met socialist reformer Keir Hardy and became aware of the state of poverty in many of Britain's cities.Although she did work to improve working and living positions for the poor it did not distract her from her main aim which was to win the right to vote for women throughout the country.

Pankhurst's tactics grew more extreme but she called a complete halt to her campaign during the period of World War 1 to support the war effort. The war had a great influence on the campaign as it gave women the opportunity to demonstrate skills that would normally have been the preserve of men. When the war ended Pankhurst formed the Women's Party and the right to vote followed soon after.

Copywriting When Your Offer Sounds Too Good To Be True

Copywriters face a special challenge when you offer a "knock you socks off" benefit. Readers will notice the promise and tell themselves, "I dont believe it." They click away to another website.

Recently I saw a notice promising "free web hosting without ads." And I dismissed the promise as yet another "too good to be true." I was reminded of all those diet plans that promise you can eat all the chocolate and french fries you want and still lose weight.

But suppose you really can deliver a product or service thats truly unique. In the free web hosting example, maybe customers automatically receive an ezine filled with hard-hitting ads. The hosting company could sell space in their ezine or they could run their own adsense or affiliate ads. Now the business model makes sense and customers will believe the promise - if you tell them.

So if you have a "too good to be true" offer:

1 Promise only what you really deliver. That means no surprises and no hidden fees, charges or conditions.

Suppose that web hosting company doesnt charge hosting fees or show ads on your website. But instead you have to join a club with monthly dues of 40. Or you buy their design services, whether you need them or not. Or they charge a set-up fee.

In any of these cases, their offer would not be genuine. As a copywriter, I would have to make sure customers really knew what they were buying.

Sounds far-fetched Ive seen dozens of "free stuff" offers from big name marketers. When I say yes, Im directed to an order form to pay shipping charges. Usually theyre modest -- just a few bucks because the marketer wants to capture your name and physical address.

But once I saw a terrific offer to get a product for 20... if Id pay a 40 shipping fee to get 6 CDs and a notebook. The actual shipping costs less than 10 and packaging maybe another 2. This offer comes dangerously close to being deceptive.

2 Design a website that absolutely screams credibility. Use colors, words and layout to communicate sincerity and commitment.

You dont have to spend big bucks on design. Most of the top marketers spend very little. In fact, a simple design with easy navigation and magnetic copy will encourage visitors to trust and buy from you.

3 Include testimonials with full names and URLs of satisfied customers and clients. If your clients dont have websites, use their cities and ideally tell readers their occupations.

You have to convince readers that these testimonials came from real people. These days, "Mary S from Chicago" will actually cost more credibility than no testimonial at all.

4 Defuse the hype. Include a line like, "Heres how we are able to make this offer." You may have a system, ingredient or business model that allows you to offer special value.

Ideally, you will translate your unique quality into a benefit. For example, a client says, "Most consultants require 4 visits to analyze your system. We need just 1 on-site visit. The copy will read:

"With 20 years of experience in this specialty, we have developed a 3-step system that allow us to analyze your system with just one on-site visit. You benefit because you can continue your business without interruptions. Your increase in productivity will more than justify your entire investment in our services." systems that create savings in time and money. Therefore, we can offer solution that deliver higher return for your investment."

5 Use a news type headline instead of a claim or "struggle" headline. So instead of "Get a free web host without advertising," you could say, "New 3-in-one program delivers free web hosting without ads." The sub-headings will assure readers, "No hidden charges or cancellation fees."
