The Essential Steps To Search Engine Optimization

SEO also known as Search Engine Optimization is the procedure of allowing a website to receive traffic, rankings, SERPs and backlinks through use of various actions.Obviously the more traffic your website generates and the more backlinks you have, the higher you will be ranked on the search engines.Listed below are a few essential basics you should familiarize yourself with if you have a website online.Remember, if no one knows you exist - you will never have traffic or visits or make money for that matter.Be visible.

Website Rankings -
Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines have a ranking system.
Search engines rank web pages depending on their relevance to a user's query. So if someone searches for a keyword like "Sony PSP" and your website is ranked for that specific term - your website will show up.

Keywords -
A keyword is a phrase, word or term that a person will use to find specific "things" on a search engine.
It's a good idea to try and pick key phrases rather than keywords when you are optimizing or marketing. In my opinion, this will get you better results.First off you have to take a look at your competition.Too much - you will never be seen.Too little - and it's probably a keyword no one searches for.Don't make it complex.Think of yourself as the searcher. What would you look up in order to find your website.Make sure when you do optimization on your website that your keywords are filled in on the title, summary and "tags".

Content -
Once you figure out what keywords you want to use, you will want to place those keywords within your content.
I also find that on some of the sites I work on - keywords that aren't even being "worked on" end up being "key players" in the optimization. For instance, I might work on the same 5 keywords for a site but because of the SERPs and page rank of the site - search engines will pick up on other keywords you use as well.So keywords you work on are: Sony PSP, Gaming Consoles, Buy games online, etc.But you do one or two pieces of content on something completely irrelevant like the Lenova Laptop - search engines will pick up on this. And when people search for the Lenova Laptop - voila, your site shows up.

Backlinks -
SEO has a lot to do with backlinks.
The more backlinks you have the better your ranking. But you have to remember that if you have keywords linked or associated to your website - this is just as good as having backlinks that are visible. For instance, if you do a search for Consumer-Outlet you can see they barely have any backlinks. But they have so many articles out on the net and so much quality content on their website that they show up on Google all the time.So just because you don't see visible backlinks - doesn't mean a site is invisible.

Article Marketing -
It's a good idea if you can get a writer or company to do Article Marketing for you.
This will allow you to provide them keywords which will be placed in the article and in the submission form. You will also provide the writer with an anchor and your URL which will be placed in the resource box of the article. This counts towards backlinks and SERPs and is one of the easiest, most efficient and cheapest ways of going about getting your website "up there" on the ranking scale!

How To Boost Your Website Traffic Fast

Generating online traffic (visitors) and in turn exposure for the products you've chosen to promote is a challenge. However, this guide will enable you to begin to generate targeted visitors and potential customers immediately.

Use Forums and Message Boards

An outstanding way to advertise your own website and your top affiliate/referral links is by participating in online message boards and forums, responding to posts and writing your own posts.

Most boards don't allow blatant advertising. However, most will allow you to include a few lines to promote whatever you wish - which can generate a great deal of exposure and click-throughs for you.

There are two main keys to message board promotion:

Key 1: Participate only in message boards that are related to whatever you wish to promote.

Tip: Ask people on the message board or forum to recommend other popular boards or forums. The question could even be your first post.

Key 2: Participate only in popular boards (in terms of visits and traffic). The more popular the board, obviously the more exposure your posts will receive. For the most part, the popularity of a board is common sense. If posts are up to date and numerous, chances are you've found a popular board. You can further determine board popularity (or the popularity of any site for that matter) by searching it through Alexacom.

The more time you spend participating in the forums, the more exposure you'll receive.Certain topics and posts will generate more exposure than others. After a while you'll get a feel for what topics attract attention.

Your signature file can consist of just about anything you wish, as long as you keep it fairly brief.Study the 'sig files' of other message board posters to get a feel for how you can promote your website and affiliate links.Remember your signature file is really a mini advertisement so make it as powerful and irresistible as you can to generate those all-important click-throughs.

Use An Email Signature File

In the same way that you can use a signature file to promote your favourite website and affiliate products through message boards and forums, you can use similar or the same sig files in your daily outgoing messages.

Tip: Use your email provider to create your signature file.

Submit Your Articles To Ezines

Write and submit short (350-500 words) applicable articles to ezine publishers (with ezines that are related to the product you're promoting) with a 6-10 line 'resource box' (including your website URL or referral link) attached to the bottom of the article.

This is a win-win situation as the ezine editor receives informative content to send to their subscribers and you receive exposure in exchange. One article can go a long way using this technique.

Tip: There are a variety of other resources and directories you can submit to.Do a Google search on the phrase 'submit your article' for a list of options.Remember, if just a few website owners post your article (along with your resource box), it can lead to years of free traffic and click-throughs.

Important note: When offering 'reprint rights' to your articles, specify that your article must be reprinted exactly as it is.

Use Co-Registration (Pay Per Subscriber) Services

You'll need your own online newsletter - ezine - for this strategy.

Utilising co- registration services is truly one of the ultimate weapons in online advertising.Capturing the contact information of your prospective customers is your initial primary objective. The money is the list - that is, your opt-in list of ezine subscribers.

Co-registration, also known as pay-per-lead or pay-per-subscriber services offer a guaranteed way to build your opt-in list for a fee.

Using these services will not only enable you to build your opt-in list for future promotions, you can also send each new sign-up your autoresponder series (training/ follow-up) course through which you tastefully promote affiliate offers, your own offer(s), your affiliate programme, or any combination of these options.

With co-registration services, your advertising dollars work exponentially on your behalf. You're building your list while potentially advertising affiliate products, your own product, your affiliate programme, etc.

You can start slowly by purchasing a small number of subscribers. As you cultivate your list by regularly sending your subscribers free articles and information to their benefit, your list will become profitable.

As well as incorporating plugs (ads) within your follow-up email series, you can place 'top sponsor' style ads in your regular ezine issues.Once or twice a month, you can send out special solo offers (where the ad is sent alone without an article).

Tip: To learn how to run your own profitable online newsletter, subscribe to six or more online newsletters related to your area of business then study how they present their material and run ads and apply what you learn to your ezine.

Affordable Advertising on Craigslist

Promoting on Craigslist is definitely affordable. For the most part you don't have to pay a fee majority of the posts that are written on Craigslist.Craigslist started first as an organization that was free but in 1999 they began to charge for some of there services. Now, there costs to keep the site running are paid by charging small fees for adverts that are asking for help that are put on the San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City Craigslist sites. Also, they charge for brokerage apartments that are listed in New York City.

A large amount of the posts advertised on the Craigslist which is over 300 sites don't pay any money.Because of these posting advertisements on Craigslist is definitely worth your while from a money making standpoint.Even though advertising is free time needs to be taken to post the advertisements properly because although even though there is no financial loss, poor posting may lead to a loss of time and resources if it produces poor profit potential.

Why Craigslist is Free

Even though the creator of Craigslist, Craig Newmark, was asked in 1997 about the chance of putting banner advertising on Craigslist to make a profit, he decided to keep Craigslist as a non-commercial site.

Even when Craigslist was changed into a for profit organization, it has not been infiltrated by big businesses websites or companies.Craigslist's mission statements show why Craigslist has continued to be non-commercial:

* Giving each other a break, getting the word out about everyday, real-world stuff
* Bringing back the human voice to the Internet, in a humane, non-commercial environment
* Making things simple, common-sense, down-to-earth, honest, very real
* Giving another option to impersonal, big-media sites
* Including every one, giving a voice to the disenfranchised, democratizing
* Being a collection of communities with similar spirit, not a single monolithic entity

Advertising on Craigslist vs.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is another type of marketing which many business owners find to be both worthwhile and affordable.

For many the appeal of affiliate marketing is the affiliates are not compensated for their efforts unless the business owner sees some type of gain from the advertising. This gain may be in the form of website traffic in the case of pay per click marketing, in the form of sales in pay per sale marketing or in the form of potential leads when a website visitor performs a specific action such as registering with a website or signing up for an offer.

While affiliate marketing is very appealing there are others who prefer advertising on Craigslist. The advantage Craigslist offers to advertisers is, of course, that the advertisers never pay for their business advertisements and the community receives a great deal of website traffic already so driving traffic to the website is not a concern.

Why Free Is Not Always Better

Keep in mind, there are some particular times where free advertisement is not necessary the most beneficial kind of advertisement you have available.

If you think of a product or service that Craigslist doesn't have a relevant category for.In that case advertising using Craigslist is probably not worth your while because, even though the advertising is free, in that case it is not likely not to get a huge amount of attention from members of your targeted audience. So in that situation, advertising on Craigslist is probably a real waste of resources and time.

Another example of a time when Craigslist will not be the best advertising choice is if the market is an overcrowded one with a large amount of competitors and advertisements. In a case like that it will be very hard to convert them into one of your own loyal customers so it may be more worth your while to purchase some advertising in a less crowded market.

What Are Private Label Right Articles And What Can You Do With Them?

PLR stands for Private Label Rights. So, PLR articles are those articles which we get with private label rights. That means, we have the right to publish them as it is or by changing it's content a little bit.The best thing about PLR articles is that, we are saving a lot of our precious time when using the PLR articles.

PLR articles are not just crap.Do you know why?It is because, these articles are written by someone researching a lot on the internet or from wherever it be.Thus, these articles contain the important facts about a particular niche. And if we are doing research over the internet ourselves to find the facts and points regarding a particular topic to write upon on our own, it may take as a day or two for just researching about the topic.

Even then it is not guaranteed that we get to know everything about that particular topic about which we have researched spending days.On the other hand, if we are using the PLR articles, we are getting the important facts and content related to that particular niche about which we are searching for without having to spend days and nights.

After reading the content of the PLR article about a particular niche, we can re-write it on our own.Don't think that people will get to know that it's a re-written one.Tell me how would they know it whether it's a unique one or re-written one.Just because it contains the same points doesn't mean that we have re-written it using others content. All we have to do is to write the things in our own style.

If you are a blog owner, the daily readers of your blog will know your writing style for sure. And they will find out the same second if they come to know that if an article is a copied one or not.You know why? It's because the writing style of yours and the one in the copied content won't be the same. It's because the other article is not written by you - you have just copied it from somewhere and pasted it in your blog.

And thus it is pretty easy for your readers to find out that its a copied content. But, what if, you write on your own - and at the same time, use the points and facts about a particular topic from the PLR articles? All you have to do is - read the PLR article about a particular niche completely once or twice. After that close that PLR article. You must grasp all the important points from the first two readings itself - and don't think of opening that PLR article in the middle of your writing.Okay, now you have with you some points and facts about a particular niche to write upon. The next step is to re-write it in your style.

Now, tell me whether it's a unique content or a copied content?Off course it's a unique content since we have presented everything in our own style - we haven't even looked at the PLR article once when we were preparing the article. And what about the time spend in this case?Did we take less time than we usually take for writing unique content on our own or more time than we usually take? The time taken here is just for reading the PLR article once or twice. It won't take more than 10 minutes to read it twice. Then we started writing the article on our own including in it some of the points and facts that we got from the PLR article.
